• Scholastic performance is a personal endeavor dependent upon individual desire and motivation. It is a clear expectation of the Fraternity that each member will strive to reach her full scholastic potential. With the pressures of today's college students - school, family, friends, work and extracurricular activities plus a planning for a future, which at times can seem uncertain at best- it is often difficult to find a balance in one's life. However, when one places scholarship as a high priority, the other demands often fall into place.

The Delta Gamma collegiate experience enables each woman to explore new horizons, gaining insight and awareness into her world. While one cannot force another person to study and learn, Delta Gamma does encourage continual intellectual development. The student who gives earnest effort to scholarship reaps the greatest benefits from her collegiate experience.

There are many reasons why a woman should desire high scholastic excellence:

    • Improves one's chances of admission into a higher education program.
    • Opportunity to apply for financial assistance through fellow- ships, scholarships and loans.
    • Ability to belong to honorary societies that will stimulate intellectual growth.
    • Future employers may look more favorably upon candidates with a higher grade point average.
    • Ability to have a chapter vote and run for elected positions.
    • Possible rewards for scholastic excellence through the chapter, campus and community.
    • Further personal development by exploring academic pursuits.

    Academic Requirement:
Delta Gamma Constitution, Article XVII., Section 1:A member whose scholastic average falls below "C" at the end of a semester or quarter may not hold office and will be deprived of her vote in chapter meeting, except on the election of members, until she has regained a scholastic average of "C." With the approval of the Province Collegiate Chairman, the chapter bylaws may designate a higher scholastic requirement for officers and members.

    Special Recognition for Achievement:
Delta Gamma is always looking for new ways to reaffirm our commitment to exemplary scholarship. Since 1988, the Delta Gamma Foundation has underwritten a program that rewards undergraduate members who earn a 4.0 grade point average. These special students receive a gold Lamp of Knowledge dangle in recognition of their scholastic excellence.
